HANUKKAH – OK for believers to keep it?
Sun, Nov 10, 2024
by
Philip Shields
Duration:
21 mins 31 secs
Hanukkah – the Festival of Lights, or Feast of Dedication. Should non-Jewish believers in Yeshua participate in Hanukkah, which is usually kept in early-to mid-December each year. Jews keep it to remember a wonderful victory and a time when they rededicated their temple and – in a way – “turn the lights back on”. Learn about it in this very short message of about 22 minutes. Did Yeshua (Jesus) have anything to do with Hanukkah? You might be surprised. What lessons can this multi-day celebration teach non-Jews?

Mon, Oct 14, 2024
by
Philip Shields
Series:
Christian Living
Duration:
1 hr 17 mins 24 secs
Originally posted on December 17th, 2007, this message is still timely for today. Many will ignore God's command to come out of Babylon - to their peril -- on the assumption they are not IN Babylon. But why would God command His people to come out of her, if they were not in Babylon? Listen carefully. This message could spare you from sharing in Babylon's horrific plagues and curses from God. Learn who modern Babylon is, who "My people" are, and most importantly - ways you and I may be part of Babylon without realizing it.

Where will you be given those names? Find out all this and more in this encouraging message. Hear the audio with notes. Though originally given in 2004, this sermon has been totally updated with new material. So if you heard it before, you’ll be inspired to hear it again.

Desire the BEST Gift of the Spirit
Fri, Jul 12, 2024
Duration:
38 mins 2 secs
Many of you know that with the Holy Spirit come fruit of the spirit and gifts of the spirit. Most of the gifts are listed in 1 Corinthians 12 and Romans 12. Do you ever ask God to give you certain gifts? Which ones would you love to see much more present in your own life and in your congregation? Paul actually tells us we should earnestly desire the best or greater gifts (1 Cor. 12:31) and then tells us which ones they are and which is #1. Which is it? And have you ever prayed for more of this gift?

RUTH, Boaz and Pentecost
Sun, Jun 09, 2024
by
Philip Shields
Series:
Annual Holydays & Feasts of YHVH
Duration:
1 hr 19 mins 23 secs
Originally recorded in May 2013, this is a timeless message. Hear your Love Story, your "goel" Redeemer, Gleanings and threshing floor times...it's all here. On Pentecost (Shavuot in Hebrew), the book of Ruth is often read and discussed. Why? Find out in this teaching. Learn about YOUR kinsman redeemer, your "goel" - your eternity depends on it. Are you in a "threshing floor" time of your life? Learn what that means. Learn the lessons of courage and faith that remarkable Ruth will teach us all. We'll read this book with a spiritual outlook as we apply famines of the word of Yehowah, and marriage of set-apart believers to their King. This short book is really not just about Ruth and Boaz - but about you and your marriage to your King, your divine Redeemer.

Don’t be “overly righteous” Ecc 7:16
Thu, Jun 06, 2024
by
Philip Shields
Duration:
1 hr 7 mins 49 secs
Yes, it’s possible to be overly righteous or – in effect – even “more righteous than GOD!” By that I mean making demands and requirements that go beyond what God himself requires. Or reading into God’s word things that really aren’t there! Or prohibiting what God allows. Allowing what God prohibits. This message will make you think about your own life and maybe even your church.

Our Wilderness time's connection to Pentecost
Wed, Jun 05, 2024
by
Philip Shields
Series:
Christian Living
Duration:
1 hr 16 mins 20 secs
Between Passover and Shavuot, or Feast of Weeks (Pentecost), YHVH brought Israel out of Egypt and brought them into a wilderness, where He gave them his Law and his teachings. They remained in that wilderness for 40 years. This teaching connects how “our wilderness time” IS connected to Pentecost. Some of you feel like you’re in a desert, a wilderness time of your lives. This sermon will encourage you and you’ll see how so many of the great men and women of scripture spent considerable time in the wilderness, where they grew and were prepared for greater deeds to come. WE are in our wilderness time right now. This sermon was originally given in June, 2012, after Pentecost (Shavuot) of that year. This time we’re playing it before Pentecost.
