God is not ashamed of us!

Praise Yah. Though I have often been ashamed of myself over the years for a wide variety of reasons, as I come to Passover I lift my Savior on high, and praise my Father in heaven – for God is not ashamed of me. In the end, that’s what matters.

Now humanly speaking, unless you’re God in the flesh yourself, we each have many things of which we can be ashamed. Or am I the only one?

Now God is not ashamed of you and me NOT because we’re so good. He is not ashamed of us because of the saving work of His firstborn son Yeshua. We are now part of HIS body, HIS life.   Paul says “Christ, who is our life…” – Colossians 3:4. In Col 3:3 he says our lives are hidden in Christ, in God. If you’ve heard my sermons on “Yeshua our High Priest”, you’ll see how HE is the one who presents us to the Holy of Holies in heaven, making us acceptable in him.

But all that’s technical stuff. Let’s get to the point of all this. I want you to revel, to rejoice, to be overwhelmed by the almost incredible notion that holy and perfectly righteous God Most High is NOT ashamed of you and me – after all we’ve done, after all we’ve failed in, after all our sins! And neither is Yeshua ashamed of me or you.

He is not ashamed of us NOT because of what we’ve done, but because of what my Passover Lamb of God has done for you and for me.

Hebrews 2:11-12

For both He who sanctifies and those who are being sanctified are all of one, for which reason He [Christ] is not ashamed to call them brethren,

12 saying:

"I will declare Your name to My brethren;

In the midst of the assembly I will sing praise to You."

Wow, Yeshua. WOW, wow, wow! So many times I’ve been so ashamed of myself, and others have been ashamed -- but not you. Wow, my Savior. That’s amazing. You’re amazing. After everything I’ve done, you’re still willing to call me your kid brother, part of your family. That’s almost unbelievable, but nay – we believe. We believe you and believe in you, dear King, our Lord and God. You’re such an amazing big brother. You are the only Way, the only Door to Father’s Kingdom -- and you’ve opened your door to me and to so many of us who have come to know you.

As we come to Passover, help us sing of your glories and magnify you and your name, O Savior, our Master – Yeshua, our Salvation.

Because it’s not just me – but all the thousands and thousands and thousands of us who are coming to know you, dear King. You are not ashamed of any of us, as your precious blood is more than enough and covers all sins, of all of us, and cleanses us and brings us into the Holy of Holies. Yeshua, you are Savior of the world – not just of the Jews or Israel. Your father so loved the WORLD that He gave YOU, dear Master. God Most High had a choice: he could either spare you and condemn all of us – or condemn you to execution on the tree so all of us could be spared. He chose to spare all of us.

And you agreed. You were pleased to have it so. You could have said “no” – but you said “yes” – and you finished the work given you. As you breathed your last on the cross, you said so magnificently, “It is finished” -- and so now you could lay down your head and your body and await your glorious resurrection.

And not only that, dear Master, you’ve introduced us to your Father and said He is now OUR Father too. That makes us true children of one and only living God. So you taught us to pray not just to “God” – but to “OUR Father”. You made God real to us. He’s our precious father. You revealed His name to us. That name WE can use is “father” – Abba, heavenly Daddy. It’s so intimate, so close, and so awesome. If Almighty God is our Father, and Yeshua’s our brother, that means we’re part of the real family of God. If God is my father, that means God is having children and a family and “we shall see Him as He is, for we shall be like Him” (1 John 3:1-3).

YOU made that possible, Yeshua. Praise you Thank you. We love you. Help us love you more each day. Help us be in synch with your mind more each day. Help us obey you and your Way more each day. Continue to reveal our Father to us. Continue to bring us into your kingdom – a kingdom you said you would share with us, your kid brothers and sisters. Wow, Yeshua, wow!

Words cannot describe, as we come to Passover, how overwhelmed we feel as we examine ourselves before Passover. Conclusion: we’re so glad we have you, we have a perfect Savior. And we need Passover. We need to eat of your bread and drink of your cup – and we sure look forward to drinking it anew with you when you come into your kingdom, dear Master.  

Hebrews 11:13-16

These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off were assured of them, embraced them and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth. 14 For those who say such things declare plainly that they seek a homeland. 15 And truly if they had called to mind that country from which they had come out, they would have had opportunity to return. 16 But now they desire a better, that is, a heavenly country. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for He has prepared a city for them.

And Yeshua, of course you’re not ashamed of us, because Father says the same thing. He’s not ashamed of His children either.

Father, help us to let our hero – our Yeshua – live more perfectly inside of us and bring you ever more joy, ever more glory and ever more pleasure in your family. And whatever you have in store for us in the coming difficult years ahead, help us to never, ever, be ashamed of you, of your Son, of your gospel – but help us to declare our allegiance to YOU, to YOU dear Father, dear Abba.

Thank you. We love you for what you did. Seeing your beloved Son on the cross must have been so hard for YOU, Father…. and yet you did it for us. “Thank you” doesn’t seem enough. But please know there are scores of thousands and thousands of us who praise you and your holy name - - as we come to the Passover.

Thank you, dear Abba. Thank you, our Lamb of God – yes thank you, Yeshua.
