Balanced Church Leadership and Authority
Fri, Feb 09, 2024
by
Philip Shields
Duration:
1 hr 21 mins 16 secs
Is there any real human government in God’s church? We know church government and the notion of rank and positions of leadership has often been badly abused. This teaching shows the balanced scriptural teaching and evidence on authority, leadership and government – even as we remember Jesus’ words not to be lording it over others but to be a servant leader.

May our prayers be as INCENSE, Psalm 141:2
Fri, Feb 02, 2024
by
Philip Shields
Duration:
47 mins 55 secs
I pray this teaching will reignite our prayers into what they should be: a delightful fragrance to God throughout the day. What can we learn from incense offered to God? How often was it offered? What were its ingredients? How does it picture us? What’s the connection between incense and our prayers? Why does this even matter? You’ll be inspired I hope.

When someone has more than one wife
Sat, Jan 27, 2024
by
Philip Shields
Duration:
22 mins 26 secs
Multiple wives. Why would I talk about that? In most western countries, it’s illegal to have only one wife at a time. But in Biblical times, it wasn’t uncommon for a man to have several wives. In the early church, apparently some had several wives also. What would you and your congregation do if someone showed up with three wives and a bunch of kids? Would he be allowed to attend? What would you do? Well we have that situation in some African countries and you might find this interesting.

Resolving offenses God’s way - Matthew 18:15-17
Sun, Dec 24, 2023
by
Philip Shields
Duration:
40 mins 10 secs
When something bad is done to you, or said about you or against you, and it upsets and offends you, what does Jesus say you and I should do? Or if, instead of you being the one offended, YOU offend or sin against someone else who is now upset with you, what should you do, according to Jesus the Christ?

Lazarus and the Rich Man – maybe not what you think
Sat, Dec 16, 2023
by
Philip Shields
Duration:
1 hr 10 mins 39 secs
Does the parable of Lazarus and the rich man in Luke 16 show that when we die we either instantly go to heaven – or instantly, if we were bad, go to suffer eternally in hell fire? Did the beggar go to heaven when he died? Be sure you’re understanding this important parable correctly. And will the wicked be tormented and tortured forever in an ever-burning hell fire that never quite ends their life? Find out in this teaching.

How forgiving are you? Forgiving just like Christ.
Thu, Nov 23, 2023
by
Philip Shields
Duration:
1 hr 19 mins 36 secs
Eph 4:32; Col 3:13 Key to Our Own Forgiveness This is a new and updated version of the sermon on the same topic, but different material today, than the one I gave in 2008. Salvation at its core is about forgiveness and the new life we have in Christ. True forgiveness – at least the way Christ forgives us – is very hard. Truly forgiving others gives the forgiven one and the one doing the forgiving a new lease on life plus many blessings. But without it, we’re not going to be forgiven either. We can’t forgive the consequences of sin, but we can release any resentment, hate, bitterness and lack of love for what others have done to us or we to them. This is a very, very important topic

God’s Word on WINE and alcohol
Sat, Nov 11, 2023
by
Philip Shields
Duration:
1 hr 11 mins 17 secs
What was Jesus’ first miracle? WHY was that the first one? What did the wine at Cana point to? Why did Jesus/Yeshua have to make so MUCH wine in that miracle (120-180 gallons)? What can we learn by “The PRINCIPLE OF FIRST MENTION” concerning wine? What is consumed for Passover – grape juice or wine? Does GOD enjoy wine? Did he require an offering of wine? Whether you feel believers can or shouldn’t drink wine or alcohol, you’ll discover spiritual insights connected to drinking wine that you may not have realized before as we study this together.

Is Praying to Jesus OK?
Mon, Oct 23, 2023
by
Philip Shields
Duration:
41 mins 8 secs
Some believe we are to pray directly only to God the Father and never to Jesus Christ. If you believe that, or if that is your practice – not to ever pray to Jesus -- I encourage you to listen to this teaching. Does Christ’s teaching us to pray to our Father in the “Lord’s Prayer”, command us not to ever pray to HIM? Who did Abraham, David, the prophets and others pray to in the Old Testament? Are we never to pray to our Betrothed?

ISRAEL – what’s next for them and us?
Fri, Oct 20, 2023
by
Philip Shields
Duration:
1 hr 11 mins 12 secs
What’s really happening in Israel? Where did the name “Palestine” come from? What does GOD call that land in the Bible? Are terrorist attacks coming to America? Is a Two-state solution being sought by Palestinians? Is Israel practicing Apartheid? What did Arafat do in 2000 when offered a Palestinian State/country? What are believers to be doing to have peace in all this? What are we told to be praying for and about?
