Welcome to Light on the Rock

We’ve marveled at our Savior through the Passover season and now count the days to Pentecost – which means “count 50”. Yes, the early believers kept the Feasts of Yah (Leviticus 23) and the new covenant “ekklesia” actually started on Pentecost, one of those divine appointments and received the gift of the Holy Spirit. The word for “Feast” in Hebrew (moed) actually means “appointed time” or appointment. We think of “feasts” as a time of plenty of food and drink – and that’s part of the meaning but the usual word used for that is “chag” (silent c) – meaning a feast day as we think of the word.

In the coming weeks we’ll focus on the first of the divine appointments – the holy weekly sabbath, instituted by God himself resting on the 7th day of the week (Genesis 2:1-3). We’ll be covering other topics as well. Please also look at the blogs for interesting and educative topics. I welcome your comments and feedback. May our loving Father bless you all. Thank you for coming to this free site. Please let others know about this website if it is blessing you.

It's Christmas season again. Most of you who come to this site realize Christmas has very pagan roots, long before Christ was born. But is it OK with God for us to observe Christmas with its pagan roots, as long as we do it unto Christ, and in our hearts know we're worshiping HIM, and not the pagan gods? Does it matter, in that case? What does YHVH say about that? What did Paul and Yeshua teach about that? And how should we deal with all the issues that come up in this season - the issue of gift giving, Christmas parties and so on.

Whether you're male or female being called by God, you need to hear this teaching. After hearing this message, we pray you'll profoundly appreciate more than you ever have before, your high calling to possibly be a part of the Bride of Christ. We answer: Does the Bible really mention a Bride for Christ? WHO is that Bride? Is it a group of people, or the city of Jerusalem, or both? Is it the nation of Israel or the church, or both? Will our Messiah have one wife, or several? Where is the wedding? How does Scripture describe the Bride? Are YOU confident about being the Bride of the Son of God? How do you think Christ feels about His Bride - and you? Where do Song of Solomon and Proverbs 31 fit in? You'll find all that and more in this message.

Are you really a true disciple of Christ? How would you find others? The Bible gives at least 7 identifying signs. Yeshua came to live and die for all mankind, of course - but he also came to prepare disciples. Disciples who would be just like Him and change the world. Learn how Christ continues calling and grooming disciples - and how to identify who they are - in this 21st century. (This is a completely new sermon, though I gave one with a similar title in June 2004.)

Note - this was originally given in 2012. I've updated the dates to 2013 dates, to make it more applicable to 2013. The main points are timeless. Learn all about Yom Kippur, The Day of Atonement from the perspective of a believer in Yeshua, or Jesus Christ. We'll distinguish between what the Word of God actually says about this day from the traditions associated with this day but which are not mentioned in scripture. You'll hear the shofar blown. We cover: why we fast on Yom Kippur (don't just fast, but fast for a reason), the 2 goats of Lev. 16, the year of Jubilee, why Jonah is read on this day, strange anomalies between 30 AD - 70 AD and the prophetic events tied to this awesome day and more!

Why does Yehoweh allow even His own called-out children to go through so much pain and suffering? We are referring to mental anguish and suffering and not just physical pain. Why do so many suffer unhealed illness, or prolonged unemployment or year after year of unending physical pain? Why do so many innocent children also suffer, especially among the family of God? Abba is able to remove suffering - so why doesn't He do so, more often than He does? What's the final purpose, the point of prolonged pain and suffering? We hope this will be a life-changing message for you to bring you peace and joy even in your pain.

This is the conclusion to Five women who were vital parts in the Messianic lineage of Yeshua, our king of Kings. The Davidic-Messianic line will indeed change the world. Glean some fascinating insights into each of these women and learn lessons that can change your life as well. (Note there are other sermons about and for women you can find in 2005 in the months of February, April and September 2005). Whether Gentile or Israelite, all of these women needed God’s grace – but all five women helped change the world.

The Messiah changed the world. Only five women, (5 the number of grace) are listed by name or referred to, in Matthew’s lineage of Yeshua, our Savior. Why were these five chosen? And why were most of them Gentile? Why couldn’t five “pristine” women who were more ‘righteous’ be chosen? What role did each of these women play in the Royal family tree? Caution: this and the next sermon are fairly graphic, but nothing is said that the Bible doesn’t say. Hear/read about these women who changed the world and the lessons they bring to all of us.

This message goes way beyond my blog about the "Hidden Leaven". Your home may be perfectly deleavened but could we be missing the biggest leaven still lurking in our more important house? Have you and I really deleavened 100%? Probably not. This heart-felt sermon is not the standard message about deleavening. Topics include: how we all protect and retain certain "leaven" in our lives; deleavening of the true leaven must be 100% or we're still leavened; who does the true deleavening; total absolute surrender of everything we are and have been - and much more.

We usually just say "God" or "Christ" or "Jesus" when speaking about the Creator or Savior. This sermon explains the importance of having a closer identification with our God and Savior. People who don't know Yahweh often say "Oh my G--" when making an exclamation, breaking the 3rd commandment. But we of His people should be speaking of our Father and our God as "OUR" God and "OUR" - or MY - Father, my God, my Savior. The prophets and apostles did. Yeshua did. We examine many scriptures showing God regards sins of knowledge (knowing what we're doing is wrong) far more seriously than sins of ignorance, or unintentional sins. A good Pre-Passover examination. We discuss: how often in fact we sin with full knowledge of what we're doing; how to put the real leaven of sin out of our lives. Really overcoming sin, really changing. "Casual sin", sins done in defiance. We hope Passover means more after this message.
