Welcome to Light on the Rock

We’ve marveled at our Savior through the Passover season and now count the days to Pentecost – which means “count 50”. Yes, the early believers kept the Feasts of Yah (Leviticus 23) and the new covenant “ekklesia” actually started on Pentecost, one of those divine appointments and received the gift of the Holy Spirit. The word for “Feast” in Hebrew (moed) actually means “appointed time” or appointment. We think of “feasts” as a time of plenty of food and drink – and that’s part of the meaning but the usual word used for that is “chag” (silent c) – meaning a feast day as we think of the word.

In the coming weeks we’ll focus on the first of the divine appointments – the holy weekly sabbath, instituted by God himself resting on the 7th day of the week (Genesis 2:1-3). We’ll be covering other topics as well. Please also look at the blogs for interesting and educative topics. I welcome your comments and feedback. May our loving Father bless you all. Thank you for coming to this free site. Please let others know about this website if it is blessing you.

Must we RESPECT our leaders?

by Philip Shields

Or can we trash those in authority -- on social media? We’re coming into very dangerous times in the last days of this age. Those in leadership positions in the very last days are prophesied to do unspeakable things to God’s children especially. Do we have to respect leaders no matter what? What about the president, our governor, congressmen, the police, teachers, bosses and others in authority? Are we allowed by scripture to be rude to them or say disrespectful things on Facebook about them? What if they’re acting like criminally or dishonorably? What if we’re being wrongfully sued or attacked – what recourse do we have as Christians or believers? Do those in authority first have to EARN our respect before God requires us to give them honor and respect? What does God’s word say about all this?
